Who is this guy named Rob?

Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador in the early 1960's, I spent the first 20+ years of my life in this beautiful city complete with hockey rinks and ski hills.

Hockey was my first love and a lot of it I played. When I was around 8-9 years old Mom got me involved in power skating. For one full year I practiced skating to the point where I was a pretty good skater able to do crossovers both ways, backwards and frontwards, and do stops and starts with the best of them. Whenever I played Road Hockey (as much a part of Canada as Hockey and Tim Hortons) I ended up playing goal for some particular reason. After one year of power skating I was ready to don the equipment. Of course we had to buy some and my first day on the ice I went out with no gear on, skated circles around everyone out there and the coaches asked me what position I wanted to play and I fatefully said, "Goalie". From that day onwards I only ever played that position and today can hardly stand up on regular player's skates.

So, I played lots of hockey growing up with the full support of Mom, Dad, and the family. Three of my sisters tried their hand at figure skating and Andrea became the most accomplished having progressed to provincials several times and even a couple of Atlantic Canada championships. Our other sister Murray (we know, a boy's name) ended up being an exceptional ski racer and won many championships from the Marble Cup to the Iron Mug....

Yes, we did grow up in a great family of talent!

Starting out with Lisa, she broke ground for us all being our big sister paving the way with Mom and Dad. She is now a very successful morning show host on CBC radio in ThunderBay. Her show is the top rated morning show in the area. Lisa is married to Brad and they raised two great boys one of whom is in University.....my, how they've grown.

Big brother Ken lives in Corner Brook with his wife Connie and together I think they run the city. Ken is a Realtor with Royal Lepage and is selling tons of stuff from land to resorts to cottages to whatever people want or need! Ken is recently a grandpy and has two stunning daughters.

Sara is in Aberdeen, Scotland living the life with a wonderful husband Harald who's an oil guy and also a hunter gatherer. Knowing Sara this must absolutely thrill her on a daily basis whenever Harald comes home with something fresh! Their son Kristian is a delight and brilliant.

Murray lives in Corner Brook with her hubby Jim and together they have about 20-30 kids! They actually have 4 wonderful children who are all fantastic spirits. Their boy Mike plays hockey so Jim and I are quite proud of him! The girls are a hoot and it's always wonderful seeing them all, especially whenever I'm home, Ken comes down to Mur's and we have the dirty big scoff that Ken will invariably cook for us!

The youngest Andrea lives in Ottawa with her hilarious husband Devin and they have two gorgeous children. Andrea has been in pharmaceutical sales world since the late 1980's and just recently joined Amgen and is totally thrilled to be in such a great company.

Both Andrea and Murray  put their shopping on hold for the whole month of January in 2009 and did some relief work in an AIDS hospital in Tanzania. They climbed Kilimanjaro to raise some funds for the hospital where they volunteered.

Now you know who and where I came from. Good roots, great family, wonderful memories.

But then I had to grow up some. Off I went to the University of Prince Edward Island where I was goalie for their University Hockey team. I backed up Tony for the first year then was number one goalie my second year then Assistant Coach.  After university I moved to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador where I started my career in pharmaceutical sales on the heels of my sister Andrea's success and enjoyment as well as good friend Terry's success.

I moved from there in 1992 to Halifax with a promotion to a new Oncology/Cancer salesforce. From there I moved to Ottawa in 1994 then to Toronto in 1996. I lasted 4 months there and moved back to Nova Scotia that year and have been here since. To continue my golf I joined Oakfield Golf and Country Club and that's where I spent much of my summertime. Getting a few rounds of golf in per week helped my handicap tremendously. That plus living around 2 minutes from the course enabled me to be able to practice tons as well.

After a wonderfully successful and storied career in Oncology sales, I turned in my briefcase in 2005 and started in this wonderful world of Real Estate.

Then in 2009 a friend introduced me to a lovely woman named Lynn who I recently proposed to in her old family home. She said yes and I hope the rest is blissful history!
